12th Grade Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Bowers first earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Western Kentucky University. She later earned her secondary education certificate for teaching business and marketing with endorsements in middle grades education and computer science. She then earned a master's degree in Secondary Education and Rank 1 in Secondary Guidance Counseling. She has been in the field of education for 20 years. Mrs. Bowers began her teaching career at the Ohio County Career & Technical Center where she taught business and computer classes. During that time, she was the advisor for FBLA and assistant advisor for DECA. In 1996, she began teaching at Muhlenberg North High School and taught business classes and co-op. She was also the advisor for FBLA and the student bank. In 2001, she transferred to Muhlenberg South High School. During her tenure at MSHS, she taught business and computer classes and eventually moved to the Marketing Department. She also advised FBLA, and then the DECA Club. When the schools merged to Muhlenberg County High School, she moved back to the West Campus and taught marketing classes and the Principles of Teaching class. In 2010, she began working in the guidance office for a portion of the day. The following year she assumed the full time counseling position as the senior guidance counselor. Mrs. Bowers lives with her husband, David Bowers, who teaches social studies at Muhlenberg South Middle School.
11th Grade Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Baird is a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She received both her Master's and Rank I in Counseling from Western Kentucky University. Mrs. Baird is a former Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. She loved teaching but enjoys even more her job as counselor. This position gives her the opportunity and time to work one on one with teens.
Mrs. Baird lives with her husband in Greenville. She has two children and two grandchildren. Her favorite quote is "When given lemons, make lemonade." In other words, no matter how difficult life can be at times, a person can learn and grow from the experience. They can use that growth to better themselves.
